Thomas Newman

Thomas Montgomery Newman (ur. 20 października 1955 w Los Angeles), amerykański kompozytor, który zajmuje się tworzeniem ścieżek dźwiękowych filmów (soundtracków). Pochodzi z rodziny kompozytorskiej. Syn Alfreda Newmana jednego z najważniejszych kompozytorów filmowych Hollywoodu, siostrzeniec Lionela i Emila, kuzyn Randy’ego i Joeya, brat Davida - wszyscy wyżej wymienieni są szanowanymi twórcami muzyki filmowej, jest także bratem Marii grającej na skrzypcach. Od dzieciństwa interesował się muzyką - starał się grać na pianinie i skrzypcach.

Studiował 2 lata na Uniwersytecie Południowej Kalifornii (USC), gdzie uczył go m. in. David Raksin, potem w Yale, gdzie ukończył naukę z tytułem magistra. Po studiach pisał muzykę do produkcji teatralnych i offowych na Broadwayu. (źródło: www.lastfm.pl)
Debiutował w 1984 roku filmem Buntownik z Eberton. Tworzył muzykę m.in. do takich filmów jak: Bracia(2009), Droga do szczęścia (2008), Człowiek ringu (2005), droga do zatracenia (2002), American Beauty (1999), Zielona Mila (1999), skrawki życia(1995), Skazani na Shawshank (1994)
